Ulf Lindemann aka [dunkelbunt] surely counts among the most influential global beat troubadours of the early 21st century. With „Sun Dub Vol. 2“ [dunkelbunt] happily escapes from within the boundaries of all things „balkan/gypsy“ in order to finally present the entire [dunkelbunt] universe: from electro swing and oriental dub via mestizo and tarantella over to nu asian sounds and back, Mr. Lindemann explores the fine art of setting the dancefloor on fire by dropping the nicest grooves and at the same time providing pretty laid back excitement.
Think a wide variety of rare (maybe almost forgotten) tracks, exclusive edits and as-of-yet unreleased remixes (a.o. courtesy of Boban I Marko Markovic Orkestar, Stefano Miele, Shazalakazoo, !Dela Dap, Malente, Eastenders & Bajka and of course [dunkelbunt] himself) because that’s just how the man rolls… in the mix, that is.

After more than 30 years of musical projects like scoring films for a.o. Henning Mankell as well as providing riddims for Lee ‚Scratch’ Perry and of travelling the globe in search of the silence between the musical notes, Zilverzurf has finally arrived at home. And is now inviting you in to share his lovely conclusions crowned by the ultra sensual voice of Zilverzurf’s charismatic daughter Lykke Li… so move closer to the fireplace and open your ears and heart, because you are in for a real treat!

With this, his latest album offering, Johan Zachrisson aka Joao Sueco aka Zilverzurf adds yet another uniquely beautiful collection of truly outstanding music to his long and pretty amazing discography. The wise producer, guitarist, fieldrecording fanatic and globetrotter from Stockholm, Sweden works some serious magic on the international music scene for more than three decades now and perfectly embodies what those „in-the-know“ would describe as „an outernational genius“ of a very special kind, blessed with the status of a musical legend (not only in his country of origin)… as well as the best of connections to folks in high places around the globe, of course.

Member of (and driving force behind) Sweden’s reggae superheroes Dag Vag in the 1970s, scoring films for a.o. Henning Mankell, providing riddims for Lee ‚Scratch’ Perry & Adrian Sherwood, recording sessions & productions in places like Jamaica, India, France, England and North Africa (just to name a few…) – Johan Zachrisson has been there, done that, got the T-Shirt. And he has just recently bought a no-return ticket to the small south Portugese village of Estorninhos: the place where „Howling Dogs & Lost Souls“ mainly came about. And so, in more than one way, this album is the soundtrack to a homecoming… escaping to here from the hectic life in Stockholm since the late 1980s on a regular basis, Mr. Zilverzurf and his wife decided to finally move to the place that had been their secret retreat for such a long time. „Our children had more or less grown up, and we were longing for the silence and stillness in Estorninhos”, the man admits. “As always I had to bring my little studio, because if I can not record music, I don´t know what to do…“.

Heavily inspired by the rich sounding athmosphere around his new, yet so familiar mountaintop home located somewhere deep in the hills of Portugal as well as by the many people from different countries who stranded in that same place (likewise trying to find inner peace and sanity far away from the everyday pressure of the modern western urban society), Zachrisson gathered musical friends from along the way as well as assorted local musicians to make this album happen. Spiced up by field recordings, moods and influences from his many travels, „Howling Dogs & Lost Souls“ is somewhat like the organic essence of „world music from another world“ – or, as he himself likes to describe it: „My initial idea was simply to make chill out music for grown ups“.

Easier said than done, for real. Eleven timeless instrumentals, crowned by the ultra sensual vocal tune „Céu Sem Fim“ featuring Zilverzurf’s charismatic daughter, the untouchable darling of cool, Miss Lykke Li…
… all made of sweet melancholy, sheer beauty, impeccable songwriting skills and masterful musicianship fusing into a genre bending, effortless and deep masterpiece of pure quality. After more than 30 years of travelling the globe in search of the silence between the musical notes, Zilverzurf has finally arrived at home. And is now inviting you in to share his lovely conclusions… so move closer to the fireplace and open your ears and heart, because you are in for a real treat!

“In music, to me, silence is as important as non-silence. The Music is everywhere… in the silence, in the barking of the dogs and in the song of the crickets, the frogs calling for rain. In the guitars, in the saxophone and in the rhythm that moves us forward.”

Working on sound and production as part of Kieser.Velten (on G-Stone and Poets Club Records) since the late 90s, Oliver Kieser developed his unique deep and groovy space of sound. This led to the birth of his solo project Egotrip.
“Shanty Boogie“ is the first release of his solo joint, as funky and groovy as hell track for the dancefloors.

Get an Kieser.Velten download special incl. the 3 EPs “Showdown” (G-Stone) and “Vital Signs” (Poets Club Rec.) by Kieser.Velten as well as the new Egotrip single “Shanty Boogie” (ckp) and pay the price of 2 instead of 3 EPs on soulseduction.com

The Shanty Boogie EP includes remixes by his fellow funk brothers Quincy Jointz (one half of Geriba with releases on Funk Weapons and Citrona records) with a more trippin’ outfit and Razoof & Emanuel with an élegant dub house mix.

The “Vital Signs EP” is a real killer! Starting with “Stormy Monday”, a typical dubby, uptempo Dublex Inc mix, rising and rising to become a monster; while “Dub Throat” is a roaring breakbeat beast, emphasizing the darkest shades of the night…
There´s a nice story behind the huge „Dubolition“ track (part of their „Showdown EP“ on G-Stone): the Cologne based dubsters from Solar Moon used to spin this tune on every single one of their soundsystem gigs (from summerjam to microparties) for years, with their on and off MC crooner Don Abi voicing it live in a rub-a-dub stylee. When Kieser.Velten contacted the Solar Moon camp because of Razoof’s “Lambs Bread” mix (since Razoof is a part of Solar Moon), they heard the “Dubolition” story wuith a grin on their faces, fell in love with Abi’s voice and had to re-record the track featuring Don Abi (in a rub-a-dub stylee, of course).
Same same, but different for the smooth collaboration track with gentle-voiced, Washington based love poet JEN. Kieser.Velten heard JEN on the razoof album “soulaquarium” and really were fascinated by JENs voice and poetry. Since Solar Moon’s very own George Solar (a huge Kiser.Velten fan ) was producing an album for JEN at that time and was looking for associated producers, the contact was made fast. Exceptional producers meet an exceptional woman with an exceptional voice and they truly vibe “together”!

And do not forget: On top you will get the EP “Showdown” for free, if you buy on soulseduction.com

Customers of itunes will receive a bonus track, when they buy this amazing album, which celebrates the vibes of this unique city and its’ colourful nightlife.

Wanna have a taste? Listen to Istanbul 1:26 a.m. (Nik Ammar (Oi Va Voi) Remix):

Download Istanbul 1:26 a.m. (Nik Ammar (Oi Va Voi) Remix) here (click right – Save target as…)

“For me, Istanbul 1:26 a.m. is the personal hymn of Istanbul. Whenever I listen to the track, images of this amazing, crazy, sexy, cool city are coming to my mind. It is one of the tracks which I cannot stop listening to. I am addicted to that track!”

Fatih Akin (movie director, e.g. „Crossing The Bridge“)

A complete longplay album dedicated to one single song might be uncommon to a lot of folks – still, in certain musical genres such a thing is even an art form to the highest degree… If a song got „that certain something“, a collection of versions and reinterpretations of it can open a lot of new horizons and interesting angles. Any which way: the story behind those „certain“ songs is always worthwhile much more than only a few minutes. „Istanbul 1:26 a.m.“ definitely is one of these songs.

And now, the ongoing sonic tale evolves from being a beautiful short story to becoming a real multi-dimensional audio book with a lot of interesting pages to it.

QUOTES ON „Istanbul 1:26 a.m.“

“Hypnotic ambience served on a warm bed of digital undertones, darbuka and underground beats. Perfect for the chill room. Love it.”
Nitin Sawhney

“A meandering journey through a beautiful city capturing all it’s beauty.”
Pathaan

The track “Istanbul 1:26 a.m.“ is a fine downtempo jazz with a fine ethnic percussion touch – good and uplifting vibe!
Richard Dorfmeister

“DJ Yakuza is delivering the perfect Bosphorus 1:26 am soundtrack with his track, sublime… ”
Rainer Trueby

“As Cinematic as it is deep, moody & delightful, Soundtracking Istanbul’s lonely, early hours.”
Quantic

It´s the second release from 7 Samurai´s „El Mundo Nuevo“ album – a great mixture of soul, latin, brasil, jazz, swing, reggae, dub, dancehall and hip hop that sounds fresh and funky beyond the ordinary!

“El Mundo Nuevo“ is a killer collection of tracks, collaborations and outstanding remixes by 7 Samurai. The album includes their mix for the rare Jorge Ben joint „Sou da pesada“, the unreleased remix for the latin-lounge don´s Mo’Horizons and further contributions by Desmond Foster, Janko Nilovic and Alessao Vilhosso

On the flipside, Zero Cash delivers a bombastic and ecstatic remix that turns the track into a funky electro tune with a great break… hands up for this! Zero Cash aka Fabian Stall releases on his own label Television Rocks (that he runs with Maral Salmasi) and his tunes are played by the likes of Erol Alkan, Tiga, Boris Dlugosch or Malente.
